- Guilford County Schools is committed to transforming learning and life outcomes for all students
Guilford County Schools (GCS) is the third-largest district in North Carolina, serving nearly 72,000 students across 126 schools in urban, suburban and rural areas. Our mission is for our students to “graduate as responsible citizens prepared to succeed in higher education, or in the career of their choice.”
We work to achieve this mission by offering great choices to students and providing them with opportunities to grow and succeed, including offering 45 magnet and choice schools with 54 programs, from Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) to performing or visual arts, advanced academics, Spanish immersion, Montessori, health sciences and aviation. We also offer 187 Career and Technical Education courses in 50 schools, including programs in culinary arts, business, nursing, computers and automotive technology, among others.
We have seen great success for our students and schools, but we also recognize we still have work to do, particularly when it comes to closing opportunity and achievement gaps in our schools. It’s an issue that we are committed to facing every day, and one we won’t give up on until we are providing environments where students and staff from all cultures and backgrounds are able to succeed.
