Dudley High School Freshman Seminar
A new course at the historic James B. Dudley High School in Greensboro is designed to provide students with a comprehensive overview of the African American experience. Students explore the concept of cultural identity using historical data, and they are supported while navigating the transition into high school and making positive choices.

“We Made the Journey”The historic lunch counter sit-ins began in Greensboro, N.C. and included graduates from GCS’ James B. Dudley High School. Now, alumni who lived through that historic time, and who helped make history themselves by participating in those demonstrations, share their experience and knowledge with current students, so future graduates may help carry-on that legacy.

Restorative Voices Program
The Restorative Voices Program focuses on addressing the social justice issue of racial disparity in educational opportunities, specifically in GCS. The program works to empower students in our schools to have a voice as district leaders work toward more positive school cultures, decreasing exclusionary and racially disproportionate discipline practices and boosting academic achievement for each student.
